NCH Nurses Union

We are stronger together.

They rely on us. We should be able to rely on fair treatment.

We Deserve Better

How it is now:

  • Nationwide Children's Hospital Nurses are among the lowest paid in Central Ohio.
  • Staff shortages due to Nationwide Children's Hospital cutting costs.
  • Insufficient paid time off for sickleave and vacation time often resulting in employees reporting to work sick.
  • Ongoing safety issues at the Behavioral Health Pavillion.
  • Our insurance premiums are through the roof.
  • Unfair and imbalanced treatment - some departments are more punitive than others.

How it should be:

  • Fair, competitive pay.
  • Full staff to ensure patient safety.
  • Getting sick pay and vacation time and prioritizing patient safety.
  • Safety issues addressed at the Behavioral Health Pavillion to ensure nurses are protected.
  • Affordable insurance premiums.
  • Fair and equal treatment on the job.

Forming a union gives you POWER IN NUMBERS to fight for the way things should be.

Nationwide Children's Hospital
Organizing Mission Statement

We are the nurses at Nationwide Children's Hospital and we are resolute in providing invaluable care to our community's chlidren and families, often under their most stressful conditions. We are committed to organizing all of us - the dedicated nurses at Nationwide Children's Hospital - to speak with one voice: a union. Standing together as one union will ensure we are paid a fair wage, have safe staffing levels, high quality healthcare, a secure retirement, and the respect and dignity in the workplace that we have all earned through our unwavering dedication to our patients and the parents who entrust their children in our care.

We are nurses. We are the heart and soul of Nationwide Children's Hospital. When families talk about how thankful they are for the high quality care their children can get right here in Columbus - they are talking about the work we do.

NCH should take care of those of us who care.
It's only fair.

Get The Facts

The benefits of membership in a union are indisputable. Unions exist to be the collective voice of their members in the battle for better pay, benefits, and safety.

Unions raise the wages of their members by 10-15%.

Union employers contribute more to their employees' health care benefits, they are more likely to offer and contribute significantly to retirement plans, they are more likely to offer paid sick days, vacations, and holidays, and they offer more flexible schedules.

Union hospitals have better health and safety practices, including staffing requirements, to ensure both safer working conditions for those who work there, and as a result, better care for the kids and families we serve.
